  • Anesthesia:

  • Procedure:

  • You will be positioned on your stomach or the side of an examination table
  • The healthcare provider will clean the biopsy site and may use ultrasound or CT scan guidance to locate the kidney.
  • A small incision is made in the skin, and a biopsy needle is inserted through the incision into the kidney.
  • Tissue samples are obtained by either a fine needle aspiration or a core biopsy needle.
  • The needle is quickly withdrawn, and pressure is applied to the biopsy site to minimize bleeding
  • A bandage or dressing is applied to the incision site.
  • Post-procedure care:

  • After the biopsy, you will be monitored for several hours to ensure there are no complications.
  • Bed rest may be advised for a few hours, followed by limited activity for the next 24-48 hours.
  • Pain medication may be prescribed if necessary.
  • You may be instructed to avoid heavy lifting and strenuous activities for a certain period.
  • Follow any additional instructions provided by your healthcare provider, such as medication schedules or dietary restrictions.
  • Potential risks and complications
