Kidney Failure

Prof (Dr.) Debabrata Mukherjee, Director, Nephrology, Max Hospital, Gurugram, talks about the effective treatment options available for the condition.

Kidney failure occurs when your kidneys lose the ability to sufficiently filter waste from your blood. Your body becomes overloaded with toxins if your kidneys can’t do their regular job. This can be lead to kidney failure. It can be life-threatening if left untreated.

Types of Kidney Failure

Acute Kidney Failure:

Your beans still have a chance to regain their function. In Chronic condition, both kidneys have been severely damaged and scarred thus recovery of normal function which is no longer expected.

Chronic Kidney Failure:

It is also called End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), the 5th and most severe stage of chronic kidney disease. People with ESRD will require renal replacement therapy–this treatment takes over the normal blood-filtering function of the kidneys.

Kidney Failure Stages

Stage 1: Slight kidney disease.

Stage 2: Mild decrease in kidney function

Stage 3: Moderate decrease in kidney function.

Stage 4: Severe decrease in kidney function.

Stage 5: End-stage renal disease.
